GREENBOX Labs is a next-gen agriculture tech startup founded in New Jersey in June 2025 by Lisa Yang, whose family legacy spans generations of farmers and agricultural engineers. With roots in agricultural research and education, GREENBOX is dedicated to democratizing access to precision-controlled plant growth. Our mission is to solve a critical barrier faced by schools, universities, research labs, breeders, and preservationists: the high cost and limited accessibility of traditional growth chambers, which often exceed $10,000 and restrict experimentation and innovation.
To overcome these challenges, we developed GREENBOX: an AI-native, compact, closed farming system that delivers professional-grade environmental control and data logging at a fraction of the cost (targeting an estimated price point of $2K). Portable, scalable, and designed for research, breeding, and preservation, GREENBOX removes both cost and knowledge barriers, eliminating the need for specialized personnel and empowering institutions and small businesses to run advanced experiments, safeguard biodiversity, and teach hands-on plant science with ease.
Our model is designed to combine future product sales with collaborative partnerships, enabling educators, researchers, breeders, and preservationists to validate plant science and expand discovery. Early alpha trials confirmed reliable results across diverse species, and we are now working with academic partners to finalize beta pilot systems, validate data logging requirements, and broaden applications.
At the intersection of agriculture and education technology, GREENBOX Labs is making research-grade cultivation affordable, portable, and scalable, building the foundation for accessible, reproducible plant science worldwide.
